A Zerol bevel gear is a spiral bevel gear with a zero-degree spiral angle. It combines features of straight and spiral gears.
They offer smooth, quiet operation like spiral gears but without axial thrust. They are also less sensitive to misalignment than straight bevel gears.
They are used in machine tools, printing presses, and aerospace equipment where quiet, high-speed operation is needed, often replacing straight bevel gears.
Straight bevel gears are conical gears with straight teeth that transmit motion and torque between intersecting shafts—most often at 90°. They are simple, accurate, and cost-effective for moderate speeds and loads. Compared with spiral bevel gears, they are easier to manufacture but generate more noise and vibration at higher speeds. Typical materials include alloy and carbon steels, finished by cutting, heat treatment, and grinding. Common uses: machinery right-angle drives, agricultural equipment, tools, and reducers where precise alignment and compact layouts are required.

| Dimension | Straight Bevel | Spiral Bevel |
|---|---|---|
| Tooth form | Straight teeth | Curved (spiral) teeth |
| Shaft angle | Typically 90° (customizable) | Typically 90° (customizable) |
| Noise / Vibration | Higher, especially at high speed | Lower; smoother operation |
| Load capacity & life | Moderate | Higher |
| Machining difficulty / Cost | Lower; simpler to manufacture | Higher; more expensive |
| Alignment & assembly | More sensitive to coaxiality/center distance | More forgiving assembly tolerances |
| Typical applications | Agricultural machinery, tools, low-to-medium speed gearboxes | Automotive differentials, high-speed machinery |

Wenlio Gear’s bevel and miter gears turn power between shafts that meet at 90°.
Ratios: Miter gears are 1:1. Bevel gears range from 1.5:1 to 6:1.
Tooth design: Usually 20° pressure angle. A long/short addendum is used to avoid undercut on small tooth counts.
Matching rules (Miters): They only work together when tooth count, pitch, and pressure angle are the same. You can use more than two in one system (e.g., a differential).
Matching rules (Bevels): Sold as matched gear–pinion pairs. Do not mix different pitch, pressure angle, or ratio. When one is worn, replace the whole pair, especially for low ratios.
Wenlio Gear provides a full range of manufacturing services for gears, gear components, and assemblies. With skilled technicians, proven know-how, and a fully equipped facility, we deliver precise, custom work for your gear projects.

1: High Transmission Accuracy
Our involute gears offer a precise and constant transmission ratio. This is not only critical for precision machinery and instruments but also essential for reducing dynamic loads and achieving smooth operation, especially under high-speed and heavy-load conditions.
2: Wide Range of Applications
Gear drives can transmit a vast range of power, from as little as 0.001W up to 60,000kW. They can operate at very low speeds or at high speeds up to 150 m/s, a performance level that is unmatched by belt or chain drives.
3: Versatile Axis Arrangements
Our gears can connect and transmit power between parallel, intersecting, and crossed shafts. This flexibility is a key advantage that other transmission methods like belt and chain drives cannot achieve.
4: Long Service Life and High Efficiency
Designed for durability, these gears provide a long lifespan and maintain high transmission efficiency, reducing power loss and operational costs.
5: Strict Environmental Requirements
To ensure optimal performance and longevity, gears generally require a housing or gearbox to protect them from dust and debris. Proper lubrication is also essential, except in a few low-speed, low-precision applications.
